The Palliative Care ECHO® Project is a national initiative, led by Pallium Canada and a growing network of partners, to cultivate communities of practice and establish continuous professional development among healthcare professionals across Canada who care for patients with life-limiting illness. Nova Scotia Health is pleased to be a Palliative Care ECHO® Project Hub Partner with Pallium Canada.
ECHO® (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) uses a “hub and spoke” education model to connect healthcare professionals across care settings and community-based groups (spokes) with regional, provincial, and national subject matter experts (hubs). The spokes are the beneficiaries of the various palliative care educational programs created by the hubs and by Pallium Canada.
By participating in ECHO® programs, healthcare professionals gain access to ongoing education, mentorship, and a supportive community of peers. Expert-led presentations and interactive case-based discussions help providers build the skills and confidence needed to manage serious illness, improve symptom management, and enhance quality of life for patients and families.
