Magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound and bone mineral density eReferrals

Surgeons and  primary care providers who are onboarded to the eReferral tool (Ocean) have the ability to choose MRI, ultrasound and bone mineral density under the Diagnostic Imaging (DI) Provincial Queue on the Ocean Healthmap.

eReferrals are the provincial standard for sending surgical, MRI, ultrasound and bone mineral density requisitions. As an Action for Health priority, all onboarded primary care providers (PCPs) are expected to use the tool for sending referrals to these services.

Additional diagnostic imaging modalities are expected to be added to the tool later this year.

More information including onboarding and training resources are  available on the Nova Scotia's eReferral Resource Hub.

Direct eReferral Support for Radiologists

The Diagnostic eReferral project team has developed a dedicated support plan for radiologists using eReferrals for MRI and ultrasound.

eReferral 101 session for Diagnostic Imaging – MRI

To introduce this project to our teams, Nova Scotia Health hosted a series of virtual eReferral 101 Information Sessions from April 20-25.

These sessions were open to all staff and physicians involved with Diagnostic Imaging Services (i.e., radiologists, technologists, booking staff, registration staff, etc.) and provided an opportunity for you to receive an overview of the project, preview Ocean eReferrals and ask questions.
