Dr. Stephanie Langley is the Co-Department Head for Family Medicine in the Eastern Zone. In this role, Dr. Langley works in a co-leadership with the Primary Health Care Director in the Eastern Zone to advance all aspects of family practice and healthcare delivery in communities.
Born and raised in Antigonish, she attended St. Francis Xavier University before pursuing medical school and residency training at Dalhousie University. Both her parents are from Cape Breton, which motivated her to come to Cape Breton and make a difference in healthcare.
As a family physician at the Northside Family Collaborative Practice in North Sydney, Cape Breton, Dr. Langley provides care not only to her own panel of patients but also serves the wider community through her roles at the Well Women's Clinic, Operating Room as a Surgical Assist, Urgent Treatment Centre, Unattached Patient Clinic, and the Rehabilitation Unit at the Harbourview Hospital. Hence, she is a MAID provider in her community as well as a Medical Abortion Provider.
Dr. Langley is also an Assistant Professor at Dalhousie University and Site Director for Dalhousie's Family Medicine Residency Program in Cape Breton. Overall, work is near and dear to her heart.
In her leisure time, Dr. Langley is an avid runner and has participated in many races, including full marathons, half marathons, and triathlons. Her love for running inspired her to coach a Learn to Run (LTR) program in her community. She aims to empower and support people to take up running and helps them build confidence and prepare them to participate in a 5km road race. Dr. Langley believes in the benefits of running for overall health and encourages others to incorporate it into their lifestyle. Also, she recently rekindled her musical passion by picking up her trumpet after a hiatus of 30 years and is a proud member of the Second Wind Community Band.
