A proven connector, physician leader, and change facilitator, Dr. Matthew Clarke is the associate Chief Medical Information Officer at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. He is passionate about digital health transformation and his role includes various projects including One Person One Record and the Oncology Transformation Project. The most rewarding part of his work is being involved in innovative work that will have a lasting and transformative impact on healthcare for Nova Scotians.
Born and raised in Bedford, Nova Scotia, Dr. Clarke began his education at Dalhousie University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and completed his Medical School in 2013. He subsequently completed his Family Medicine residency at Queen’s University. Before returning to Nova Scotia, Dr. Clarke worked in Myriad emergency and leadership roles at the North Bay Regional Health Centre and taught at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. Dr. Clarke became a faculty member in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Dalhousie Medical School in 2020. His academic profile includes research, clinical preceptorship, lecturing and offering skills courses and Sim labs. He works clinically in various departments throughout Central Zone including the Halifax Infirmary and Cobequid Community Health Centre.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and 4 daughters. They enjoy biking, camping, and anything else outdoors together.
