Medical Affairs has retained the services of a dedicated IT Support Professional for Physicians. Davis Bennett is the Medical Affairs Information Technology Lead.
“This Medical Affairs IT Lead role is a new role that was envisioned as a liaison between physicians and IM/IT and NSDS,” says Davis. “The position supports physicians in the sense that when physicians have an issue or a need, I can help navigate the IT world with all its policies and workflows as I am familiar with the people and processes,” explains Davis. “Currently, there are some IT processes that don’t consider the physicians’ relationship with NSH and as such, it inhibits their work. For that reason, I will be looking at existing processes and hoping to suggest changes to improve efficiency and accommodate physicians’ needs,” says Davis.
Davis says what attracted him to this new role is the idea that he can improve the physician experience, and through that, indirectly improve patient care. Additionally, this role has a social focus and allows him to directly engage with physicians, which greatly appealed to him.

Microsoft 365 Migration & Issues for Physicians who Bring Your Own Device
Nova Scotia Health has been migrating our email services to Microsoft 365. Physicians are reporting issues with email integration on their own devices after completing the Microsoft 365 email migration. We apologize for these issues and understand they are causing frustration as we know how mission critical email access can be for daily operations. It is important to know that previous to the migration, testing with physicians was completed to try and mitigate any issues in advance of the changes.
Our team has attached some interim instruction for those currently impacted and we are creating new updated instructions for future deployment to overcome some of these issues and these will also be sent out and posted on the physician portal. You can access the initial instructions for Android devices below in the Resource section.
If you have tried this method and are still having issues, please contact the IT Service Desk at the Nova Scotia Digital Services and tell the you need support with the Outlook app for M365 on a personal device as approved by the CIO.
Medical Affairs is working with the Chief Information Officer, Chief Medical Information Officer, and Nova Scotia Digital Services on a solution with a very high priority for resolution.
We will provide regular status updates as the situation evolves.
