Dr. Cristin Muecke was born and raised in Halifax. She completed medical school at Dalhousie University, and her Residency in Public Health and Preventive Medicine at McGill University.

Cristin began her career in 2005 as a Regional Medical Officer of Health in New Brunswick. She served in several roles in that province including Deputy Chief Medical Officer of Health, until joining the Public Health team in Nova Scotia in 2022. In addition to her role as the Regional Medical Officer of Health for Northern Zone, Cristin sits on the Advisory Board for National Collaborating Centre for Environmental Health. She is passionate about climate change action, has engaged in ongoing work on Public Health’s role in climate action in both New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, and is a member of CAPE (Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment) Nova Scotia.

For her Public Health service, Cristin has been recognized with the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal, the Order of Merit from the New Brunswick Medical Society, and a Public Health Leadership Award from the Public Health Association of New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.

Cristin lives in Truro with her partner. They have four kids ranging in age from 16 to 23 years, and dote on several small pets, including a dog, cat and two guinea pigs.
