Dr. Tania Sullivan is the Site Lead for Emergency Medicine at Saint Martha’s Regional Hospital and is also the Co-lead for Emergency Medicine in the Eastern Zone.
Dr. Sullivan also serves as the Medical Director for the QEII SIM program. She is enthusiastic about further expanding and cultivating a simulation strategy that encompasses the entire province, with the goal of improving both patient safety and outcomes. Her vision involves the seamless integration of systemic changes, protocols, and practices within the department to yield a more substantial and positive impact.
Born on Fogo Island, located along the northern coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, Dr. Sullivan's early years were spent in the rural community of Joe Batt's Arm. Her upbringing played a pivotal role in instilling in her the significance of community bonds and the vital lessons of resilience and survival.
Dr. Sullivan pursued her undergraduate studies in Nova Scotia. While studying at St. Francis Xavier University, she found a passion for basketball, and her extensive volunteering experiences gradually illuminated her true calling in the realm of healthcare. She completed medical school at McMaster University and residency training in emergency Medicine at Dalhousie University.
Dr. Sullivan believes her role as a frontline Emergency Medicine physician allows her to appreciate the array of viewpoints within the healthcare system. This perspective motivates her to cultivate an environment where colleagues are inspired to share their insights, thereby contributing to the advancement of healthcare in Nova Scotia.
In her spare time, Dr. Sullivan still enjoys basketball, along with hiking and road biking and is always keen to try new things.
